Welcome to The Little Dutch Bakery, where every bite tells a story of family, passion, and tradition! We're Bas and Catalina, a husband-and-wife team with our teenage son, Nathaniel, and together, we're bringing authentic Dutch and artisan sourdough baked goods from our family to yours.
Bas, originally from the Netherlands, is an executive chef with decades of experience honing his craft in the culinary world. Catalina, from Colombia, dedicated years to teaching before pursuing her lifelong dream and earning a degree in Baking and Pastry. And Nathaniel? He's a finalist in the Department of Agriculture Student Chef competition, proving that a love for cooking and baking truly runs deep in our family!
The idea for The Little Dutch Bakery started with Bas's dream of opening a bakery. Catalina, always pragmatic, decided to test the waters quietly by setting up an online food delivery account, offering our homemade delights to nearby neighbors, family, and friends. To our amazement, orders started pouring in, not just from those we knew, but from new faces too! What began as a fun "side hustle" we thought might just last through the holidays quickly blossomed beyond our wildest expectations. When January arrived, demand only grew, and we realized this was more than just a hobby—it was our calling.
Thanks to the incredible support from our community, our dream accelerated. Since February of last year, Bas has left his executive chef role to dedicate himself full-time to the bakery. You can now find us every week at The Pavilion at Port Orange Farmers Market on Saturdays (8 AM - 1 PM) and The Mount Dora Village Market on Sundays (9 AM - 2 PM), connecting directly with our wonderful customers.
At The Little Dutch Bakery, our commitment to quality is at the heart of everything we do. We meticulously select only the highest quality ingredients, and we proudly use only organic flour in all our sourdough products. Our Classic Sourdough, for instance, is a testament to purity, made with just three simple ingredients: water, organic flour, and salt.
